Photo's of Ring Weekend - Class of 2016
I started this blog to follow my son's journey at West Point - he is nearing the end with just a few months to go - the pictures and stories are from my detective work on facebook instagran and flikr and some of the events I was present for - I only have a glimpse into his time there and hope to add more in the future or hope that what I have so far is interesting and it does him justice.

I am humbled by all of the cadets and soldiers and honored to stand near any one of you... and honored to be a part of God's plan... I am a true believer in God as I witnessed Him at work as JG grew from child to teen to young man to the amazing man of character I gaze upon when we are together and hear his voice when we talk about daily happenings long distance over the phone...I find I am always compelled to say - I love you I will say so sometimes more than once.and sometimes with hesitation fearing I am making him feel uncomfortable or too special as he does not act special nor view himself as such - he has never made me feel hesitant - I just do as I know he is now a man of confident independence... I will always have wisdom and insight about life from my years of living and will always share with him what I have learned or know to be true...and do this without expecting him to heed my advice only hope that he hears acknowledges and considers my advice. He does this as rule which gives me peace of mind for God's gift of free will has no better place than with a man of thoughtful actions. I am sure of that and JG.
August 2015 has come and gone marking the beginning of JG's last year (he is a Firstie) he is at the top of the cadet pyramid...seems like a second ago I started this blog explaining he was a Plebe..then he was a Yearling (YUK year) then he was a Cow...in the old days the cadets could not go home until their third year so "when the cows come home" stuck and third years became Cows... I do not know why fourth year is called Firstie year - it is counter intuitive since it is their "lastie" final year at West Point... I will find out and update everyone as I know all of you would not expect anything less of me... the link below explains the tradition around the West Point Class Ring ..received at the beginning of their Firstie year - Ring Week-end we were told these past three years is one to remember and JG's did not disappoint.. (photos will follow) first though this article is quite informative brief and holds ones attention...Hats off to the Class of 2016 -
